Downtown Revitalization Grant
BACKGROUND
The City of Linden has been awarded a Community Development Block grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture in the amount of $500,000 with a $75,000 match from the City. This grant is part of the Downtown Revitalization/Main Street grant program with the goal of removing blighted conditions downtown that make the district less safe for pedestrians, especially those with disabilities.
The scope of work for this grant includes adding new/enlarging existing sidewalk segments on N. Main, N. Kaufman, E. Rush and W. Rush. It also includes rebuilding and paving the 100 block of W. Rush (from S. Main to S. Taylor) and the 200 block of E. Rush (from S. Kaufman to Church St.).
Construction bidding is scheduled for February 2022, with construction slated to begin early summer 2022.
Update 10/18/2022
After a drainage-related change order faced several delays while being processed, paving is scheduled to begin mid-November 2022.
