General Land Office (GLO) Grant

BACKGROUND

The City of Linden was awarded a $2,000,000 flood prevention grant in 2018 with a 10% match of $20,000 of City funds. The scope of the grant includes replacing culverts under S. Kaufman St. and Centerhill Road, creating a stormwater collection pond in the city park, and terracing the amphitheater hill to prevent erosion. Construction bidding was completed in early spring 2021 and construction began in July 2021. As construction costs came under the awarded grant amount, additional funds will be directed toward repointing the historic 1930's CCC-built rock drainage ditch, creating bioswales where natural drainage occurs through the park, and adding two aerators to the pond. Work is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2023.
